JVP delegation meets Chinese Communist Party leaders in Guizhou

A delegation of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) led by its General Secretary Tilvin Silva visited Guizhou Province in China on the invitation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) last week.

They met General Secretary of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the CPC Xu Lin on Wednesday.

The meeting at the International Conference Hall in Guizhou, focused on strengthening the historic ties between the CPC and the JVP, particularly in the light of the recent electoral victory of the National People’s Power (NPP) coalition led by the JVP.

Xu Lin extended a warm welcome to the Sri Lankan delegation and congratulated the JVP-led alliance on its success in forming the new Government. He expressed confidence that the longstanding friendship between the two parties would be further deepened through continued political exchange and cooperation. He also outlined the potential for shared learning and mutual benefit from the visit.

General Secretary Silva commended the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, particularly under President Xi Jinping, for transforming China into one of the world’s leading economies. He said that this achievement stands as a testament to the resilience and strength of the Chinese people and their leadership. The JVP delegation included Deputy Minister of Youth Affairs Eranga Gunasekara, Deputy Minister of National Integration Munir Mulaffar, Jaffna district MP A.M. Jegadeeswaran, Matale district MP Deepthi Wasalage, and Gampaha district MP Dharmapriya Wijesinghe.

Chinese representatives at the meeting included Member of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the CPC, Guo Xiwen, Vice Mayor of Guizhou, Zhang Jingping, Deputy Minister of the CPC International Department, Sun Haiyan, and Deputy Director General of the same department, Lin Tao and several senior officials.
