The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) marked a milestone by ringing the ceremonial bell at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) to commemorate its 65th anniversary. The event on June 16, celebrated CA Sri Lanka’s enduring legacy of excellence, leadership, and national contribution to financial governance.

The bell was rung by CA Sri Lanka’s President, Heshana Kuruppu. Vice President Tishan Subasinghe, members of Council, past presidents, CA Sri Lanka CEO Lakmali Priyangika, CSE Chairman Dilshan Wirasekara, CEO Rajeeva Bandaranaike and CEO Designate Vindhya Jayasekera were also present.

The bell ringing ceremony, a symbolic tradition that signifies the opening of trading at the stock exchange, served as a powerful reaffirmation of CA Sri Lanka’s pivotal role in shaping the country’s financial and professional landscape for over 65 years, since the Institute was set up in 1959 by an Act of Parliament. Heshana Kuruppu said, “For 65 years, our Institute has been a cornerstone of financial integrity.

As we look ahead, we remain dedicated to empowering professionals, embracing innovation, and contributing meaningfully to Sri Lanka’s economic resilience.”
