Commemorating founding father of Vietnam

Bhikkhus pay tribute to the late Vietnamese President Ho Chi Minh Pix by MSM Saleem

The Embassy of Vietnam organised the commemoration of the 135th Birth Anniversary of the late President Ho Chi Minh at the Public Library premises recently, under the patronage of Vietnamese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Trinh Thi Tam. The Ambassador, Ministers, Embassy officials, other guests and invitees paid floral tributes to the late President.

Minister of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, who is also the Chairman of the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Association Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi was the chief guest.

Ambassador Tam, Minister Dr. Hiniduma Sunil Senevi and Secretary General of the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Solidarity Association Sudasinghe Sugathapala addressed the gathering. The website of the Sri Lanka-Vietnam Solidarity Association was also launched on the occasion.

The Vietnam Embassy presented awards to the winners of the Monthly Quiz Competition, Art and Essay Competition. Colombo Public Library Chief Librarian Mrs. Waruni Gagabadaarachchi presented awards to the winners and Mohamed Iqbal sang a song about late President Ho Chi Minh.

Speaker of Parliament Jagath Wickramaratne, Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvi Salih, Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports and Civil Aviation Bimal Rathnayake, Governor of the Western Province Haniff Yoousf, General Secretary of the JVP Tilvin Silva and Political Party Leaders were also present.
