Deepal, (for Deep Blue) the premium Electric Vehicle (EV) brand from China’s Changan Automobile, was officially launched recently in Colombo, with the first showroom already functional in Nugegoda.

Changan and Deepal will be represented in Sri Lanka by Prime EV, a subsidiary of the Senok Group, which already has several other car brand franchises.

Accordingly, the vehicles that will be available in Sri Lanka include the Deepal S07, L07, E07, S05, and the compact Lumin. Formed as an independent brand in 2023, Deepal is built on a design philosophy of “intelligent companionship”—vehicles that intuitively connect with their drivers while delivering zero-emission performance and sophisticated style.

Guan Xin, VP for Changan’s Asia Pacific Market speech said Deepal was their first New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand. “Deepal focuses on key EV technologies, including ultra-integrated electric drives, advanced ECUs, and the Golden Shield Battery. With over 1,600 patents and global recognition — such as the 2023 Global NEV Innovation Award — Deepal has heavily invested in the future of electric mobility. We are proud to partner with Senok Group to deliver exceptional service and sustainable growth in Sri Lanka.”

Gerad Fernando, Managing Director of Senok Group, said: “This is more than a product launch—it is a defining milestone for Sri Lanka’s transition to clean, intelligent transport. Deepal is not only an EV; it is a symbol of what the future holds. With Senok’s commitment to service excellence we are confident of transforming the EV landscape in the country.”

Deepal’s international success has been swift and impressive. In Thailand, the brand surpassed 10,000 units sold in its first year of operations, despite intense competition. In Sri Lanka, there will be a fully equipped after-sales service network; Trained EV-specialised technicians; Access to comprehensive workshop and diagnostic tools and plans to roll out an island-wide DC charging network in the coming months.

The S07 SUV promises to lead Deepal’s charge in Sri Lanka. With a design penned in Turin, Italy, and the experience of Deepal’s global research and development program that spans Turin, Yokohama, Shanghai, Birmingham, and Michigan, the Deepal S07 offers prestige innovation.

Standard equipment in the S07 covers items like an impressive 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two-tone leather-look upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, a 14-speaker Sony sound system, dual-zone climate control, wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, and much more. There is also adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep and lane-centring assist, blind-spot monitoring, autonomous emergency braking, and other advanced driver assist features. At the heart of Deepal S07’s interior sits the touchscreen display, which handles the vehicle’s key controls and leaves the interior looking simple, fresh, and uncluttered.
