The Islamic Society of St. Clare’s College, Wellawatte, held its annual Islamic Day awards ceremony at the College Hall recently under the patronage of principal, Hemamali Wijesuriya.
Attorney-at-Law M.Z.F. Zaaima was the chief guest and distributed the medals and certificates to the students who took part in the various contests, such as Quirth, Qaseeda, Hifl, Calligraphy, and Essay.
Al Nasar Maha Vidyalaya, Grandpass, Staff, Moulavi M.N.M. Maazin was a guest speaker.
Deputy Principals, T.B.M. Zahir and Usha Karunaiswaran, the Islamic Society teacher-in-charge, Hishama Nawas and Zulaiha Nawzeer, and Primary Section teacher Jahana Begum attended the event.
President of the Islamic Society, Fathima Mafaza, Secretary, Fathima Ishra and members including teachers, students, old girls, and parents were also present.
