Young journalist and communications strategist Vimukthi Dushantha has been appointed as the Assistant Secretary of the Sri Lanka–India Media Friendship Association (SLIMFA) for 2025–2026, in recognition of his significant contributions to the media, public communication, and digital advocacy sectors in Sri Lanka.
Vimukthi Dushantha, a familiar name in Sri Lankan media circles, is the founder of Info Sri Lanka (www.infosrilanka.lk) and previously served as the Director of Communications and Public Relations at the Jathika Janasabha Secretariat, functioning under the Presidential Secretariat.
His extensive media portfolio also includes editorial roles at Lake House (The Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd), media and communications for the UN-assisted Ahanna reconciliation campaign, and consultancy for the Secretariat for Coordinating Reconciliation Mechanisms (SCRM) – under the Prime Minister’s Office.
Dushantha also held senior leadership roles in civil society and policy advocacy organisations, including ACBPA, PMDR, and Alternative Media Networks. He is currently the Chairperson of INSEL Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, a communications and branding agency.
He has also served on multiple national committees, including the Anti-Corruption Committee of the Ministry of Power, the Committee of Apeksha Cancer Hospital, and the Professional Web Journalists’ Association (PWJA).
Founded in 2024 with the patronage of the High Commission of India, the Sri Lanka–India Media Friendship Association (SLIMFA) seeks to foster bilateral understanding between the two nations through people-to-people media cooperation, journalism exchanges, and technological knowledge sharing.
