The Little Hut, the country’s first nightclub originally launched in 1957 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, reopened its doors recently, with a spectacular retro night that brought back the magic of a golden era.

The event featured a live performance by Inner Vision, led by the legendary Benjy Ranabahu, delivering a nostalgic tribute to The Beatles and an unforgettable lineup of early rock ’n’ roll, pop classics, and timeless tunes from the ’60s and ’70s.

The night drew an enthusiastic crowd of long-time patrons who once danced the nights away at The Little Hut, as well as a new generation of music lovers eager to experience the charm of the iconic retro club.

The Little Hut now offers two distinctive experiences — guests can enjoy dancing inside the vibrant, disco-lit club space, or unwind outside by the beach under the stars. Entry is free, and one of the standout highlights of the night was the affordable pricing paired with authentic hand-crafted wood-fired pizzas — a delicious complement to the nostalgic atmosphere and music.

Mount Lavinia Hotel’s COO Anura Dewapura said, “The Little Hut was once Colombo’s most happening night venue, filled with music, joy, and unforgettable memories. We’re thrilled to bring it back — not just as a tribute to its past, but as a living, breathing part of Colombo’s nightlife once again.”

The Little Hut brings together the spirit of the past with the energy of today.
