As part of its commitment to sustainability and community wellbeing, Raja Jewellers took the lead with a beach clean-up at Panadura Beach recently. The initiative, which was designed to commemorate World Ocean Day, was a demonstration of the brand’s commitment to environmental conservation through significant, staff-driven action.
The employees of Raja Jewellers took full responsibility for the beach clean-up, demonstrating the company’s enduring values of giving back to the environment that supports communities as well as to the communities themselves. The effort sought to encourage greater societal responsibility for protecting oceans and addressing the growing issue of marine pollution, especially plastic waste.
Raja Jewellers Managing Director Athula Eliyapura said, “Environmental conservation is now required, not an option. We are honoured to have spearheaded this World Ocean Day initiative as a trusted and responsible Sri Lankan brand.
We believe that sustainability starts with action, and we hope that this project will encourage others to join us in preserving our natural resources and coastline. Our team’s dedication reflects our values and serves as a reminder that even the smallest effort matters.”
About 203 kg of plastic, 166 kg of tin, aluminium and cans, 17 kg of glass, six kg of cloth and 12 kg of cardboard were collected during the initiative. They were handed over to the Panadura Municipal Council’s waste management team.
