Asanga Peiris
Asanga Peiris was appointed as the new Chairman of the Old Royalists’ Athletics Club (ORAC) at their Annual General Meeting, as the club welcomed a fresh leadership team for the upcoming year.
Joining him at the helm, Niraj de Mel, Ravi Widyalankara and Hiran Wimalaratne were named as Vice-Chairmen, bringing experience and energy to the club’s leadership.
The post of Secretary went to Prashantha Mahadevan with Chinthana Tharanga as the Assistant Secretary. Asiri Amarasinghe took over as the Treasurer while Hasitha Deraniyagala was named Assistant Treasurer.
A capable Executive Committee was also announced, consisting of Naveen Seneviratne, Mojitha Hewage, Shiamal Jayasinghe, Mandrike Amaratunga, Rangana Jayatilake, Chelaka Herath, Ahamed Adnan, Sahampathi Dissanayake, Mahesh Ariyaratne, Prabhath Gamalathge, Mahesh Gunaratne, Prabhath Ramanayake and Sawinda Dissanayake.
Formed in 1993 under the guidance of the Royal College Union, ORAC has steadily grown over the years. The club has played a vital role in promoting athletics among past Royalists and offering continuous support to Royal College athletics through various initiatives. (SJ)
