AIA Insurance recently concluded the 30th edition of its flagship Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, AIA Poson Safety Programme, with resounding success.
This milestone year marked three decades of commitment to public safety. Held during the sacred Poson season, the program was conducted across Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Mihintale, and surrounding regions.
Over 500 trained lifeguards were deployed across the lakes and reservoirs, safeguarding thousands of pilgrims who gathered to observe this significant religious festival.
Thanks to their vigilance and preparedness, the event concluded without any major incidents, reaffirming the programme’s reputation as one of Sri Lanka’s most impactful and enduring CSR initiatives.
AIA Poson Safety Program was born when drowning tragedies that take place during Poson prompted AIA to take action.
In 1993, the company partnered with the Sri Lanka Life Saving Association, the Sri Lanka Navy, and the Sri Lanka Police to launch a coordinated effort to prevent such accidents.
Since then, the initiative has grown in scale and scope, saving countless lives.
In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation, AIA launched a recognition campaign to honour the lifeguards and volunteers who have been instrumental to the program’s success over the years.
