Sri Lanka Railways has begun daily operations of the Mount Lavinia–Kankesanthurai Inter-City Express, previously limited to weekends.
Departing Mount Lavinia at 5:15 AM, it reaches KKS by 12:13 PM, with the return trip at 1:50 PM. The Yal Devi now departs Colombo Fort at 6:40 AM instead of 5:45 AM.
Sri Lanka Railways has officially announced the commencement of daily operations offering passengers a faster and more reliable travel option between the western and northern coasts. The train will depart Mount Lavinia at 5:15 AM and is scheduled to arrive at Kankasanthurai at 12:13 PM. The return journey will begin from Kankasanthurai at 1:50 PM, reaching Mount Lavinia by 8:58 PM. In parallel, the Yal Devi train, which departs daily from Colombo Fort to Kankasanthurai, will also see a schedule adjustment.
Effective 7 July, its departure time from Colombo Fort has been revised from 5:45 AM to 6:40 AM. The Department of Railways has advised passengers who made advance bookings over the past month to take note of the updated schedule to avoid any inconvenience.
