Roadshows & Networking Evenings in India were scheduled by Sri Lanka Tourism in the month of June, targeting the potential travelers from the Indian City of Luknow.
Bilateral Tourism Bonds between the two countries strengthened further with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, made special arrangements to host vibrant Roadshow & Networking Evenings in Lucknow together with over 35 leading travel and tourism companies from Sri Lanka.
This large contingent from our country included Destination Management Companies (Leisure & MICE), Premier Hotels & Resorts, and Service Providers- actively engaged with the Indian travel trade to build strong and lasting partnerships.
A massive effort is been taken in promoting Sri Lanka as a preferred travel destination for the Indian market, which is already the highest in numbers inbound.
Birds are the Glory of Sri Lankan Wildlife
On all promotional trips Sri Lanka Tourism highlights on all our attractions. There are tourists particularly interested in wildlife and even bird watching.
From the misty highlands of Horton Plains to the coastal wetlands of Bundala and Kumana, Sri Lanka is a true paradise for bird lovers. With over 500 recorded bird species — including 34 rare endemics — the island offers unmatched opportunities for bird watching and nature photography.
“Whether one is an avid birder or a curious traveler, every chirp and flutter tells a story of Sri Lanka’s vibrant biodiversity. At road shows the potential nature lovers are informed to explore our skies and forests, and feel the wild heart of our island” said a spokesperson for Sri Lanka Tourism who was just back from the Roadshow in India.
Sri Lanka is considered a great destination for ornithologists who watch-out for almost 500 bird species, many of them endemic. Sri Lankan Govt. controlled 14 national parks and its’ many reserves, sanctuaries and Govt. corridors offers a safe and stable environment for this fascinating diversity. Covering around 13% of the island, a wild-life experience is always in the agenda of most of the Indian travelers.
Indian travellers inbound
In 2025, India remains the top source market for tourists visiting Sri Lanka. Specifically, out of the 1,051,096 tourists who visited Sri Lanka from January to April 2025, 210,074 were from India, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA). This represents a significant portion of the total arrivals, with India consistently holding the leading position.
