The Nupura Melaa – 2025 dancing show presented by students of the Lasini Dancing Academy, Batuwaththe, Ragama, under the guidance of dancing teacher Iroshini Jayasundera was held recently at the Malalasekara Hall, Nalanda College, Colombo.
Veteran artistes, Prof. Mudiyanse Dissanayake and Chandrakanthi Shilpadhipathi were the chief guests.
This concert was held to mark the 25th anniversary of the Lasini Dancing Academy with the participation of 76 students.
It comprised 20 dancing items based on traditional and western styles.
Iroshini Jayasundera, who studied dance with veteran artiste Kulasiri Budhawatte, is currently teaching at the Ave Maria Convent, Mutwal, Colombo 15.
For a long time she has served as the main Instructor at the Kulasiri Budawatta Dancing Academy.
This is the fourth Nupura Melaa dancing show, and 40 students received the rangabhisheka at two paimpath festivals.
