The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Sri Lanka, under the leadership of its President Suresh Subramaniam, held the Awarding Ceremony for National Course Directors at the Sri Lanka Olympic House in Colombo.
This landmark event supported by Olympic Solidarity, highlighted Subramaniam’s long-standing vision to professionalise and uplift the standards of sports administration in the country.
By recognising those who completed the National Course Director Training Programe, NOC Sri Lanka highlighted their commitment to structured development and long-overdue national recognition.
The training programe is designed to equip senior sports administrators with the expertise needed to conduct Sports Administrators’ Courses islandwide – spreading Olympic values and best practices to the grassroots.
The honoured awardees who completed their training in 2016, 2019, 2022 and in earlier years, are: Group Captain (Retd) Nalin de Silva, Olivia Gamage, Prof. (Rear Admiral) Shemal Fernando, Major General (Retd) Dampath Fernando, Akhry Ameer, Nishanthe Piyasena, Sameera Lakruwan Perera, Anoma Rathnayake and Sivarajah Gobinath.
The awards were presented by NOC Sri Lanka President Suresh Subramaniam, alongside Secretary General Rifdy Fahmy, and Vice-Presidents Niloo Jayathilake and Deva Henry.
“This is not just an award ceremony – it’s a step forward in our mission to build a new era of skilled, ethical, and forward-thinking sports leadership in Sri Lanka,” said Subramaniam, as he thanked the awardees for their dedication.
With this ceremony, NOC Sri Lanka has not only celebrated the achievements of their course directors but also reinforced their role as a strong pillar of national sporting excellence, led by a visionary team determined to raise the bar for all sports across the island.
