The Sri Lanka Auto Sports Drivers Association (SLADA) announced the official launch of the Asian Paints Causeway SLADA Championship 2025 and the Team Championship at the Independence Arcade in Colombo on Friday.
President, SLADA Rizvi Farouk and Country Head of Causeway Paints (Pvt) Limited Vaithilingam Kiritharan jointly unveiled the Asian Paints Causeway SLADA Championship 2025 and the Team Championship, making a significant milestone in the resurgence of motor racing in Sri Lanka.
Farouk expressed his enthusiasm and said: “We are thrilled to officially launch the Asian Paints Causeway SLADA Championship 2025 and the Team Championship. This marks a vibrant celebration of the sport and a pivotal moment in its revival.”
Meanwhile, Country Head of Causeway Paints (Pvt) Limited Vaithilingam Kiritharan expressed his company’s commitment to uplifting the standard of Sri Lanka racing and shared his delight in partnering with SLADA to achieve this shared vision.
Despite several challengers in the past few years, SLADA has worked tirelessly to restore the sport to its former glory. After nearly four to five years without major racing events, SLADA has successfully scheduled four premier race meets for the 2025 racing calendar, making this one of the most anticipated championships of the year.
In collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Air Force, SLADA will organise four top-tier national motor racing events, officially recognised and supported by the Ministry of Sports.
The first event titled Rotherham Katukurunda will take place at the Sri Lanka Air Force, Katukurunda Racetrack on August 16 and 17.
This will be followed by the Gajaba Super Cross at Saliyapura on August 30 and 31, Gunner Super Cross at Minneriya on October 4 and 5 and the Rotherham Katukurunda Round Two on November 1 and 2.
The SLADA Awards Night will take place on December 12.
