
Rajiva Wijetunge celebrates
Masters double international and veteran athlete Rajiva Wijetunge won the gold medal in the discus throw and the silver medal in the shot put of the Men’s 65-69 age categories at the Singapore Masters Athletic Championship, held in Kalang, Singapore.
With these victories Wijetunge’s international medals tally since 1999 has risen to 32 medals. He has won three gold and three bronze medals in discus throw, as well as one gold and five silver medals in the shot put events in the past.
Wijetunge is one of Sri Lanka’s most versatile veteran sportsmen having earlier clinched the Sri Lanka Masters national table tennis title for 2024. Wijetunge also represented the Royal College first eleven cricket team during his schooldays.
His continued success at international masters’ events showcases not only his dedication and skill but also serves as an inspiration for Sri Lankan athletics of all generations.
