The David Pieris Group, through its Social Welfare Committee, has donated a fully equipped computer laboratory to Kalaimagal Maha Vidyalayam, Myiliddy North, Kankasanthurai, a school in a recently resettled area in the Northern Province.
This initiative, fully funded by the David Pieris Group’s Social Welfare Committee, aims to support the digital learning needs of over 130 students currently attending the school. Many of these students come from underprivileged backgrounds.
The donation included computers, computer tables. air conditioning machines and computer chairs, along with a complete colour wash of the lab building to create a more conducive learning environment.
The David Pieris Group has committed to funding the monthly remuneration for a qualified IT instructor for a period of one year, ensuring continuity and quality in digital education.
This project is part of the David Pieris Group’s broader commitment to community development, particularly in education and technology access for rural and underserved areas.
The Group has donated fully equipped houses to low-income families, supplied essential medical equipment to hospitals, provided financial assistance to patients suffering from critical illnesses and persons with disabilities and supported public transport improvements in remote areas.
