Design:   It featured a portrait      of Queen Victoria

Colour:                  Brown

Value:                    6 pence

Inscription:          The stamp was inscribed with “Ceylon” and the denomination

This first stamp was printed in the UK by Perkins, Bacon & Co., the same company that printed the famous Penny Black, the world’s first postage stamp.
