The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) will pay tribute to one of the nation’s most iconic lyricists and broadcasters, Premakeerthi de Alwis, marking his 36th death anniversary with a commemorative musical production titled “Studio 6”.
The event will be held at the historic Kumaratunga Munidasa Studio, popularly known as Studio 6, at 4.30 pm on July 31.
This emotionally charged tribute will not only rekindle the spirit of Premakeerthi’s powerful lyrics but will also bring his legacy back to life in the very space that once echoed with his unforgettable voice and artistic brilliance.
The event will hold special significance with the participation of his children, Surangi and Poorna, honouring their father’s enduring influence on Sri Lankan arts and media.
The tribute will to be a profound emotional journey, uniting song, drama, and memory. The program will feature dramatic readings of Premakeerthi’s timeless lyrics alongside live performances of his most beloved songs.
