Millions of viewers tuned in to watch the classic show during its six-season run in the late ‘90s.

And the cast of Dawson’s Creek reunited for the show’s 20-year anniversary on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.

Katie Holmes, James Van Der Beek, Joshua Jackson and Michelle Williams smiled for the special edition, with each actor receiving their own cover.

‘I think we’ve all sort of seen each other over the years, but not everybody all together,’ Katie Holmes said. ‘And never for long enough.’

Based on a fictional group of friends in a tight-knit community, the show followed the group from high school through college in the sleepy town of Capeside.

‘I run into James and Josh, Katie, Michelle, and I just get a big smile on my face. It’s just a very, very special time in my life,’ creator Kevin Williamson said.

Katie Holmes character Joey Potter had grown up alongside best friend Dawson Leery, portrayed by James Van Der Beek.

‘I loved that we were able to get in there in those formative years for people,’ Williams said. ‘That’s why people, I think, are so connected to it.

‘When something affects you while you were growing up, it kind of stays in there forever. When you’re so permeable and open and trying to figure out who you are and what’s going on, whatever reaches you in those moments really becomes part of you.’

Funny guy Pacey Witter - played by Joshua Jackson - was Dawson’s sidekick and biggest fan, but struggled at home with an abusive family.
