Ven. Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thera

Ven. Sumangala Thera played an important role in Buddhist education. He introduced Sunday Dhamma schools and English medium schools for children. He was always ready to sacrifice his own interests at the call of the nation or the Buddhist society. In whatever capacity he worked, he was always ready to serve his country and fellowmen. He thought of the nation first and of himself later.

He edited many important Buddhist books for the reader. He was a fearless Buddhist leader who worked for the uplift of Buddhist culture. He also organised many campaigns to curb social evils. He was a great asset to society.
