Premier Ceylon Teas and Spices (Pvt) Ltd has introduced one of the world’s first hand made ‘honey teas’ to the market opening up a new chapter in tea exports.

Founder of Premier Ceylon and inventor of the Golden Line Honey Teas, Jagath Wijesekara said that they have registered the product after extensive research for almost a decade. “We have already spoken to leading high-end supermarket chains in Europe, UK, Japan, Australia and the Gulf countries to export the honey tea from July.  “The product is handmade from high-grown Ceylon tea buds, hand-picked from private tea gardens in the Nuwara Eliya district and hand rolled and baked in a cinnamon wood fired hearth and fermented and preserved in pure and natural bee’s honey at the factory in Bandaragama. The process takes two weeks. “We also follow this same process and offer an exotic selection of fruits and spice varieties. Our next range would be adding an array of European fruits such as blueberry, raspberry and Cranberry, blackberry, cherry and a selection of wild berries to the Honey Tea range,” he said. Premier Ceylon Teas and Spices, a specialised handmade products company, also offers a range of spices.  “With our patented ‘Honey Tea’ we hope to take our entire range to the global market,” Wijesekara said. Premier Ceylon Teas and Spices is chaired by Dr. Tissa Jayaweera with Selvarajah Krishnakumar, a businessman living in the United Kingdom as the Deputy Chairman and Jagath Wijesekara as the founder Managing Director of the Premier Ceylon Group.
