SLT-Mobitel, embarked on a book donation program under the newly launched ‘Hithak Athnam Pothak Denna’ program to empower future generations through knowledge and education.

Commencing the first phase, SLT-Mobitel donated over 800 books to Malwana Maha Vidyalaya recently. Senior officers of  SLT Head Office and the Kelaniya  Regional office were present. The principal, members of staff and some of the students were present to receive the books. The objective of the book donation program is to enhance student academic development in rural schools, improve information and communication technology (ICT) literacy skills and build a knowledgeable student community. SLT-Mobitel firmly believes that this opportunity will inspire the students to read, expand their minds and develop a lifelong love of reading and learning.

This program is conducted with the goal of encouraging children to explore the world of story-telling and the pleasure of reading. They are to be used for the school library and include topics on ICT, novels, children’s story books, books to improve their English language and other books related to their curriculum. These books were collected from SLT customers and employees through a book donation drive and also through personal donations from the SLT Kelaniya Regional Office staff members.

Chief Marketing Officer, SLT, Prabath Dahanayake said, “We are committed to driving sustainable development and making a positive impact among communities. Our ‘Hithak AthnamPothak Denna’ program is targeted at promoting a reading culture and empowering the next generation through knowledge acquisition and retention. With education as the bedrock of any nation’s development, our book donation program invests in accessible learning.”

SLT-Mobitel aims to reach out to other schools across the country and conduct similar program through its Regional Telecom offices shortly.
