Dharmaraja hunts for cricket coaches

Dharmaraja College has ventured out to select new coaches for their junior and senior cricket teams and already over 25 coaches have applied and the best will be selected.

A school official said applicants should possess a minimum qualification of Level 1 or 2 coaching certificate besides experience of five years at school level.

He said the school prefers a Level 2 senior coach with a valid coaching license issued by Sri Lanka Cricket and below the age of 60 years.

They should be able to work with the College cricket administration and formulate short and long term plans for developing cricket and also be able to identify the skills of individuals and help improve on their range of strokes and other skills on the field.

Dharmaraja is one of the oldest cricket playing schools in Kandy and they are well supported by the Old Rajans Cricket Foundation.

Col. Thanuja Godewatte was elected president of the Old Rajans Cricket Foundation when they held their AGM recently.

Committee: Senaka Dissanayake, Chamara Kapugedera, Saliya Kumara, Asanka Dissanayake, Prasad Amarakoon, Rasika Gajaweera, Menaka Sakalasuriya, Bimal Sooriyampola, Denith Lanka and Aravinda Aithanarachchi.
