Sri Lanka go down to Bangladesh 1-3 and fail to qualify

Sri Lanka’s stickers just could not cope with the dashing display by Bangladesh and went down 1-3 in their second group stage match of the Asian Games Qualifiers played in Bangkok on Thursday (12).

Bangladesh led at half time 2-1 with goals scored by Islam Arshaf and Rahman Kharshadur in the 18th and 23rd minutes.

Sri Lanka scored their solitary goal through the stick of Vipul Warnakula early in the first half.

Bangladesh could score only one goal after the turn around through Sakar Roman in the 53rd minute. Sri Lanka had made an impressive start in this Asian Games Qualifiers with a convincing 5-2 win over Singapore.

Sri Lanka also lost to Indonesia 1-3 in their final group stage match and failed to qualify for the semi finals. Nine teams are taking part in the qualifiers. (TBR)
