SLT-MOBITEL continued its Environmental Social Governance (ESG) programs with a Mee tree planting project followed by a donation of books at the Thavalampitiya Maha Vidyalaya, Meerigama.
General Manager - Marketing Services Anuruddha Suriarachchi, several officials from SLT-MOBITEL, the Principal, staff members of the school, children and parents participated.
Meerigama Mee tree planting is the ninth program of the SLT-MOBITEL Rata Pura Husmai Pohorai Waga Karamu initiative which aims to improve air quality, reduce greenhouse gases, and promote healthier soil. Some 50 Mee trees saplings were planted at the event. SLT-MOBITEL conducted similar programs across the country including Moneragala, Umandawa, Anuradhapura and Kundasale.
SLT-MOBITEL donated books and commenced work to renovate the library, empowering over 400 students to enrich their knowledge and inculcate the habit of reading. SLT-MOBITEL’s ESG program demonstrates the organisation’s focus on protecting the environment and improving the wellbeing of society by helping to manage climate risks in a continually evolving landscape.
