The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal furnished by the Buddha Sasana, Religious, and Cultural Affairs Minister to declare the Vesak week from May 2 to May 8 and to implement various religious and social programmes parallel to that.
In accordance with the recommendations of the Chief Incumbent Theras and All Island Shasanarakshaka Mandala (Board), the State Vesak Celebrations 2023 (Sri Buddha Years 2567) have been planned to be conducted at the Sri Rathanasiri Piriven Vihara, Kebellewala, Madampe, Chilaw in Puttlam as a joint endeavour of the Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils, and Local Government Ministry and the Buddha Sasana, Religious, and Cultural
Affairs Ministry and the Buddhist Activities Department.
