Thinking Day in Sri Lanka

2 April, 2023

This year’s theme for the World Thinking Day was “Our Planet, Our Peaceful Future: The Environment and Peace.” This theme focuses on environmental challenges and taking action to protect the Earth for future generations. Members of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association put this idea into action by organising a beach clean-up in various urban coastal locations around the island, from the northern to the southern coast.

It provided an opportunity for Girl Guides to learn about and address a current global issue.

The girl guides of 38th Colombo Muslim Ladies’ College had their beach cleanup at the Mount-Lavinia beach along with the 26th Colombo Girl Guides of St. Lawrence’s Convent recently.

The chief guest was Sanjani Gamage, Vice President, Research Committee, Young Zoologists Association, The Guest of Honour was Nadeeka Gunasekara International Commissioner of SL Girl Guides Association, The Muslim Ladies College teachers-in-charge, S.H.G. Vidushini, Sangeetha, Kalpana and Guide Captain, Noor Raheema were also present.
