Air China to fly thrice weekly to Colombo

Air China Colombo officials said the Airline would operate three weekly flights to Colombo from July 3 further opening the Chinese tourist market to Sri Lanka.

The flights will be from Chengdu.

Minister of Tourism Harin Fernando after meeting General Manager of Air China, Colombo Emily Liu, said the move is poised to bolster tourism and enhance connectivity between China and Sri Lanka.

“This will also be opening up new avenues for travellers and fostering bilateral relations.”

Highlighting the significance of this development, Minister Fernando said that the flight  frequency is expected to be augmented in subsequent months following the commencement of operations.

The introduction of Air China flights to Sri Lanka signifies a positive step in expanding the reach of international airlines and promoting tourism between the two nations.

Meanwhile an official from Jetwing Air, said that the airline is flying back to Sri Lanka after a lapse of 18 months due to the COVID pandemic.

Air China will deploy A330 aircraft with 280 seats including a business class. “We have already started accepting bookings.” - SS
