The Appeal Court comprising of Justice N Bandula Karunaratne and Justice MAR Marikar issued an order to cancel the Extra Ordinary Gazette Notification issued to dismantle the Sri Lanka Automobile Sports (SLAS) the governing body for motor sports and the seven member committee appointed by the Sports Ministry as an interim body and the former Committee to function as the legal body.
Ashhar Hameem the head of SLAS made a request to the Appeal Court to repeal the Gazette Notification as he was elected unanimously by all clubs affiliated to SLAS and has served it continuously for three years as president.
They were represented by Shantha Jayawardena and Thilini Vidanagamage instructed by Sanjeeve Kaluarachchi.
After hearing to presentations forwarded, the Bench decided to reach to this decision and made the final verdict in favour of the grieving party SLAS.
