A Youth Leadership Program (YLP), organised by the Negombo Speakers Forum Toastmasters, for young aspiring individuals and potential future leaders between ages 14 to 18 from the Negombo area and its suburbs to maximise their potential in public speaking will he held on 10 consecutive Saturdays from the third week of this month at the Maris Stella College Old Boys Association Centre, Negombo from 6 to 8 pm.
“The event will help participants to develop self-evaluation techniques for improved speaking abilities, master in speech preparation and delivery, excel in impromptu speeches, hone voice, vocabulary and gesture control, as well as learn the art of constructive feedback,” said Toastmaster, from FTZMA Toastmasters Club in Katunayake Anura N. Perera who is now based in Canada.
“Participants will also have access to printed resources supplied by the Toastmasters International, to essentially support the participants with theoretical knowledge. The program is also well supported by the resource personnel from the global Toastmasters fraternity, where the participants would be thoroughly guided across an exciting and entertaining journey of public speaking,” he said.
Toastmasters International is a recognised global non-profit educational organisation that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of promoting communication, public speaking, and leadership. Possessing a strong rooted community of members within Sri Lanka, Toastmasters have been extended to unfathomable heights and areas within the island.
