DADG Peramune of Vidyaraja Vidyalaya, Ratnapura emerged the winner of the Half Marathon held in Galle yesterday.
The event for the Nestomalt trophy and sponsored by Nestle witnessed the participation of top school athletes from across the island.
Over 300 runners from all nine Provinces took part in the half marathon (21 km) and a display marathon of 5km was held with 1400 participants.
“As a brand that is truly Sri Lankan, we are proud to energize Sri Lanka’s talented young athletes through our support towards events such as the All-Island School Games 2023 – Marathon.
“We will continue on our journey of making a positive change in families and communities across generations, by being a part of similar events for years to come,” said Ruwan Welikala, director of Nestlé Lanka.
Amid the cheer of enthusiastic spectators, over 1200 young athletes energetically competed in two designated routes set across the historic Galle town.
