England beat Pakistan by 93 runs runs in their last match of the cricket World Cup at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, India yesterday.

Both teams failed to qualify for the semi finals as Pakistan crashed all out for a total of 244 in reply to England’s total of 337 for 9 in the 50 overs.

Pakistan never looked like reaching the target as they lost the first two wickets for just 10 runs on the board.

England’s bowlers did pretty well keeping to a tidy line and length after their batters led by Ben Stokes thrashed the Pakistan bowlers to all corners of the field.

Stokes made 84 from 76 balls that had 11 fours and two sixes but his regained form came too late as England failed to make it to the semi finals with India meeting New Zealand in one semi final and South Africa taking on Australia in the other semi final.

England: 337/9 in 50 overs (Dawid Malan 31, Jonny Bairstow 59, Joe Root 60, Ben Stokes 84, Harry Brook 30, Shadeen Afridi 2/72, Haris Rauf 3/64, Mohammad Wasim 2/74)

Pakistan: 244 in 43.3 overs (Babar Azam 38, Mohammad Rizwan 36, Saud Shakeel 29, Agha Salman 51, Shaheen Afridi 25, Haris Rauf 35, David Willey 3 for 56, Adhil Rashid 2 for 55, Gus Aitkinson 2 for 45, Moeen Ali 2 for 60)
