In anticipation of a digital revolution, Colombo is abuzz with preparations to host a groundbreaking conference titled “Digital Public Infrastructure: Enable | Empower | Enrich” at the esteemed Grand Marquee, Taj Samudra, on March 26, 2024.

Jointly organized by the High Commission of India in Colombo, Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Technology, Government of Sri Lanka, this event is poised to redefine the landscape of digital governance and innovation in the region.

With a focus on exploring the transformative potential of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), the conference aims to facilitate seamless service delivery, foster community empowerment through inclusivity, and catalyse economic enrichment by fostering innovation. Drawing inspiration from the recent definition outlined in the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration, DPI is envisioned as a suite of shared digital systems built on open technologies, aimed at providing equitable access to public and private services on a societal scale.

Distinguished speakers and panellists representing diverse sectors, including government officials, industry leaders, academia, and entrepreneurs, will converge to share insights and experiences, drawing from India’s successful DPI journey and offering global and regional perspectives.

The conference agenda boasts a variety of sessions, ranging from accelerating digital adoption in Sri Lanka to unlocking the digital stack for startups, and fostering multi-stakeholder collaborations for sustainable development. Attendees can expect engaging keynote addresses, dynamic panel discussions, and interactive Q&A sessions, providing unparalleled opportunities to interact with leading experts and thought leaders in the field.

The event’s significance will be underscored by keynote addresses delivered by esteemed speakers, including His Excellency the President, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, emphasizing the pivotal role of digital infrastructure in shaping the nation’s future. Additionally, Dr. Pramod Varma, Co-Chair of the Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI) and former Chief Architect of UIDAI, will deliver a compelling presentation on DPI and India Stack, showcasing India’s groundbreaking initiatives in this domain.

Further enriching the discourse, Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Group Executive Director and CEO of Telecommunication Business for Axiata Group, will provide valuable insights into unlocking the digital stack, highlighting the critical role of telecommunications in driving digital infrastructure forward.

With its distinguished lineup of speakers and dignitaries, the conference promises to serve as a catalyst for driving innovation, fostering collaboration, and steering Sri Lanka towards a digitally inclusive future.

“We are excited to host this pivotal event, bringing together stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to explore innovative solutions for leveraging digital technologies in public service delivery and economic development,” remarked a representative from the High Commission of India in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
