The much acclaimed motor racing extravaganza called the Fox Hill Supercross will be worked off after a lapse of five years on April 21 at Diyatalawa.

This year the Sri Lanka Military Academy commandant Thushara Mahalekam has taken great pains in organizing the event in association with the Sri Lanka Motor Sports (SLAS).

Addressing the media at a Press briefing at the Hilton Hotel on Thursday he thanked all who have given their best to make it a grand show for the year 2024.

The major sponsor of the event is Asian Causeway Paints with many more sponsors also lined up for this most prestigious motor racing event which will give an opportunity for local riders and drivers to make their way to the track that is considered the best in Sri Lanka.

Mahalekam further added that the event will also pave the way for young competitors to get an opportunity to battle against the experienced and veterans of the past.

Organisers expect over 300 participants to take part in 24 events, 10 for motor cycles and 14 for car events while a large turnout of racing fans is also on the cards.

President of SLAS Ashhar Hameem addressing the media said Fox Hill was the most looked forward to and the most challenging of all while it is also the first major event for the year.

The Fox Hill meet has produced many young riders and divers who have reached greater heights who have also raced against competitors from India.

Hameem said that this year too Indian racers will be on show and the races will be flagged off with the junior events for under 10 years.

He said entries could be sent to SLAS Secretariat or forwarded to the Sri Lanka Army Academy at Diyatalawa or the Sri Lanka Army Motor Racing Unit headed Major General Indu Samarakoon.
