The students of Vidura College Primary received their GESE awards at the Trinity Awards ceremony for 2023 recently.
It was held at the School Assembly Hall, Thalawathugoda, with the participation of the Principal, D.G. Sumanasekara as the Chief Guest and Lecturer at the Centre for Educational Technology and Media at the Open University of Sri Lanka, Mayanthi Jayakody as the Special Guest.
The principal, the Chairman, Dr. Ranjith Cabral and the members of the Board of Directors, Deputy and Vice Principals, teachers and representatives from Trinity College London, and the GESE awardees from the Nawala and Maharagama branches graced this event.
The principal, in his speech, highlighted the importance of equipping young learners with fluency in English, to access better opportunities in their future lives. He expressed his appreciation for the confidence Trinity and Cambridge Exams provide to young Vidurians.
The beautiful dramas presented by the GESE awardees and the monologues and poems presented by students added colour to the event. Every year, more than 500 candidates sit the final exams of the Graded Examinations of Spoken English in December, facing online one-on-one interviews with British Examiners.
At Vidura College, there is a growing demand from parents to enroll their children in British exams offer candidates a good exposure to English speaking and listening.
