A 15-year old Sri Lankan girl has gone viral after she was captured bowling against England and Australia in an Under-19 home series sending down deliveries that brought back memories of a South African bowler Paul Adams who played with a similar action.
The Press nicknamed the bowling action of Adams as a “frog in the blender”
Shashini Gimhani is a left arm wrist spinner who hails from Devapathiraja College in Ratgama Galle and she played in four matches in the tri-nation series in Hambantota last week and in the following week snatching four wickets.
Her school Devapathiraja does not have classes for children below Grade 6 and is probably the leading school catering to cricket for girls.
Gimhani like the rest joined her present school as a mere student more keen on persuading an academic line but it did not take long for her potential in the sport to be discovered.
