The Buddha Rashmi National Vesak festival will be held from May 23 to 26 with many features this year. The Gangaramaya Temple, the Presidential Secretariat and the Prime Minister’s Office have jointly organised this Vesak festival which is being held for the 16th consecutive time.
From the morning of the Vesak Poya (23), arrangements have been made to conduct Sil campaigns, Dhamma sermons, meditation programs and the exposition of the Sacred Relics of the Buddha. Vesak lanterns, pandols, Dansalas, street dramas including Noorthi and Buddhist Jathaka stories, Tower Hall Noorthi Gee will be the unique features of the Vesak Zone.
There will be a Bodu Bathi Gee (devotional songs) as well as a pandol and a rice dansala at the Presidential Secretariat premises. An exhibition showcasing Sri Lanka’s cultural and archaeological heritage will also be held at the Temple Trees premises. A special exhibition zone including creations presented by students and Foreign Embassies will also be included in the Vesak Zone during the National Vesak festival 2024.
