Tharindu Weerasinghe who is currently residing in Perth, Western Australia became one of the youngest Sri Lankan origin Engineers to become a Fellow of Engineers Australia. Tharindu received this credential in March 2024 at 40.

Membership as a Fellow is the highest level of membership with Engineers Australia. It carries with it a recognition of eminence within the engineering profession. Tharindu has the Chartered credential with Engineers Australia which he obtained in 2021.

He obtained his charter with the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka in 2015. He’s not only associated with Engineers Australia, but also a certified professional member of the Australian Computer Society. He became a senior member of the Institution of Electrical and Electronic Engineers which is the largest professional body in the world.

With over 17 years of industry experience in Sri Lanka and Australia, Tharindu carries a vast range of experience and expertise ranging from Software Research and Development, Project Management and Enterprise Software Support. He is also a volunteer member in five professional organisations in Western Australia: Engineers Australia, Australian Computer Society, IEEE, IET, Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka and Alumni Association of University of Peradeniya.

Tharindu is not only a professional in Software R&D domain, but also an independent / part time researcher who engages in scientific research and research supervision. One of the research papers co-authored by Tharindu and three other research students from England (‘Effective usage of Big Data analytics in Circular Economy’) won the Best Paper Award at the IEEE International Conference on Technology Management, Operations and Decisions (ICTMOD) in November 2023.

Tharindu has two master’s degrees, in Information and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Peradeniya (2012) and anexecutive master’s from the Asia e University in Information Security (2017) along with his first degree in Computer Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering University of Peradeniya (2007).
