Contemporary painters Hemantha Warakapitiya and Lalith Ranasinghe are captivating art enthusiasts with their latest exhibition, “Rhythm of the Brush,” which is now on and will conclude today at the Lionel Wendt Art Centre. The exhibition is open to the public from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm.
The exhibition features over 70 paintings by Warakapitiya and Ranasinghe. Warakapitiya’s works are renowned for their realism, with a focus on landscape and figure drawings, as well as real-life depictions. Ranasinghe, on the other hand, is celebrated for his wildlife paintings, showcasing his expertise in environmental and wildlife art.
Hemantha Warakapitiya has brought a wealth of experience to the exhibition. With a career spanning 35 years, Warakapitiya has made his mark as a newspaper cartoonist, notably with his famous Warakage Siththama in the Dinamina. Currently, he is an artist at a private television channel and has also contributed to the field of advertising.
Lalith Ranasinghe, a deputy director at Sri Lanka Customs, has a background as an art teacher in schools. His expertise in environmental and wildlife paintings enriches the exhibition, offering viewers a glimpse into the natural world through his artistic lens.
