Even if TIN is sent by IRD

State Minister of Finance Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said even if a notification via SMS or letter by the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) is sent to those who have a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN), they are not required to pay taxes if their monthly income does not exceed Rs. 100,000.

Those who meet the criteria can request for exception with a written request by verifying that their monthly income does not exceed the Rs. 100,000 limit.

The nearest Inland Revenue Department regional office can be informed in this connection, he said.
