Ven. Dr. Galboda Gnanissara Thera, affectionately known as Podi Hamuduruwo, the Chief Sanghanayake of Colombo Nawa Korale of the Maha Vihara monastic establishment of the Siamese Chapter, and the Chief Incumbent of the Hunupitiya Gangaramaya, will be cremated with full State honors on Monday, August 5, 2024 (tomorrow), at 4:30 p.m. at the ground opposite the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo, the Temple’s Dayaka Sabhawa announced in a press communiqué.
His mortal remains will be at Hunupitiya Gangaramaya Temple for the public to pay their respects until the time of the cremation. Most Ven. Gnanissara Thera passed away on Friday evening at the age of 81.
