Sri Lankans celebrated Vesak with great enthusiasm this year after a six-year break due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and other issues.

To showcase this celebration through photography, the ‘Vesak Siri Asiri’ competition was organized under the guidance of Prof. Praneeth Abeysundera, Chairman of the National Arts Council of Sri Lanka, and its Secretary, Dayantha Hewage.

Around 200 photographs were submitted, and 64 of the best were chosen for ‘Vesak Siri Asiri’ exhibition at the Colombo National Museum Main Hall. The exhibition was opened by H.M.B.P. Herath, Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, on July 31.

At the end of the event, certificates were awarded to the winners in recognition of their outstanding contributions.
