Creating a landmark in Sri Lanka railway history, an online platform (pravesha.lk) was introduced for railway passengers to purchase tickets. This will be initially for second and third class and later to first class as well.
“A feature of this concept would be that the ticket can be booked online and a person does not have to go to the counter again to get a print out. “You simply have to show the phone message and travel,” said Secretary of the Ministry of Transport and Highways, Ranjith Rubasinghe.
Each passenger can purchase five tickets including return tickets with each online order and it can even be done seven days in advance. “The refund option is also available.”
