Long serving employees were also felicitated

SDB bank marked its 27th anniversary with a series of events that emphasised its commitment to its employees and the communities it serves across Sri Lanka.

The week-long celebrations reflected the bank’s dedication to social responsibility, sustainability, and employee recognition, embodying the core values and mission that have guided SDB bank since its launch in 1997.

In celebration of this milestone, SDB bank conducted a number of initiatives around three main programs and the first was a recognition ceremony honouring employees who have dedicated 25 years of service to the bank.

The long-serving staff members were awarded gold coins in appreciation of their unwavering commitment and contributions to the bank’s growth and success, underscoring the bank’s deep respect for them.

SDB bank’s corporate management and the welfare society spearheaded two other major initiatives including a renovation project at Kirulapone Kumara Uthayan Tamil School, and a blood donation drive benefiting Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama.

These initiatives brought together employees and community members, reflecting the bank’s ethos of giving back in meaningful ways.

The refurbishment of the Kirulapone Kumara Uthayan Tamil School’s facilities aimed to create a more conducive learning environment for students, showcasing SDB bank’s commitment to nurturing the next generation by ensuring they have access to quality educational resources.

Since its setting up as a development bank primarily focused on uplifting the SME sector, SDB bank has evolved into a robust financial institution serving a diverse range of customer segments.

The bank has been instrumental in promoting entrepreneurship across Sri Lanka, with a particular emphasis on supporting women entrepreneurs, playing a pivotal role in the country’s economic development.

SDB bank has also championed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) sustainability within the Sri Lankan banking sector, rolling out multiple sustainability initiatives such as investments in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and digital inclusion.

The bank’s mission to increase financial inclusion is complemented by its focus on popularising digital banking, making banking more convenient and accessible to a broader audience.
