For the first time Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa hosted ‘Road to Give 2024’ CSR initiative on October 10 to raise much-needed funds for the SOS Children’s Village in Galle.

As a part of this initiative the Weligama Bay Marriott Resort hosted a Beach Walk and a Zumba session (by NICO Zumba in Colombo) in the morning to create awareness about the

SOS Children’s Village among the community. The General Manager-Weligama Bay Marriott Resort & Spa, Piyush Tyagi said that globally Marriott Resorts have come on Board to assist similar inspiring initiatives and said that this was the first time they got involved in the ‘Road to Give 2024’ initiative and hope to host this event annually.

The event aims to enhance the lives of the children at the village in Galle by providing much-needed resources for their education and well-being and as an initial commitment the hotel also provided a cash sponsorship at the end of the event.

‘Road to Give’ unites associates, guests and communities across the Asia Pacific region in a collective effort to support meaningful local causes.

“Beyond this we also hope to conduct some initiatives at the SOS Children’s Village in Galle updating the youth there on the many local and global opportunities that awaits them in the hospitality field and motivate them to get involved in the industry in the future”, a spokesman said.

SOS Children’s Village Sri Lanka has been actively engaged in providing a stable, family-like environment for children for 43 years, operating six Children’s Villages and caring for over 800 children.

National Director, Divakar Ratnadurai said, “We are deeply moved by the generosity and compassion demonstrated by Weligama Bay Marriott Resort and its team towards the ‘Road to Give 2024’.” “For the children in our care, this event means far more than just donations. This initiative conveys a powerful message that they are seen, valued and supported” he added.
