A new chairperson, Sujeeva Senanayake has been appointed to the Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board (Laksala), one of the few profitable Government enterprises.
Laksala, which operates under the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development also achieved the highest income in its 60-year history this year and hopes to further increase its sales and increase its income in the coming month.
The new chairperson said that her goal is to enter the foreign market in collaboration with the Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetthi and the ministry. “This initiative will help to make Laksala an international brand and will further help in increasing their profits.
