J.A.N. Jayasundara, who competed in the 45-49 age group at the South Asian Veterans Athletics Championships held at the Mangala International Stadium in Mangalore, India last month won three gold medals and a silver medal.
He won gold medals for the 400m hurdles, 400m run and 110m hurdles and a silver medal in the high jump. He is an officer attached to the Army’s Sri Lanka Light Infantry.
S. Kumara, who competed in the 40-44 age group in the same competition, won a silver medal and a bronze medal. He competed in the 400m race and the 4X400 relay and is an officer serving at the Central Arms and Ammunition Depot, Veyangoda, attached to the Army Ordnance Corps.
