Dear children,
Starting next week you will get to read a fun story written by our young friend Lalasha.
So let’s get to know Lalasha a bit better before we start reading her book.
Hi!
My name is Lalasha Rupasinghe. I am 14 years old and currently in Grade 10 at Lyceum International School, Gampaha. I have a deep passion for writing and playing the piano, both of which bring me great joy and allow me to express myself creatively.
My favourite subject is accounting, and I aspire to become a lecturer in the future. I am also looking forward to writing another book and continuing my musical journey, exploring new possibilities in both fields.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Ramith Dheerasekara and Nishantha Jayakody for their invaluable support in making my book a great success. A special thank you goes to Induwari Wickramasinghe, the talented illustrator of my book Dorothy’s Journey, for bringing my story to life with her beautiful artwork. I am also deeply grateful to Aunty Dushi, the former sub-editor of Junior Observer, for encouraging and guiding me in publishing my articles at the very beginning, which ultimately inspired me to write a book.
A sincere thank you to our school principal, Thilanka Karunarathna, for attending my book launch and motivating other children to discover their hidden talents.
I extend my appreciation to all my teachers, from my early grades to the present, who helped me understand the letters of the alphabet, leading me to write an entire book. Last but not least, a big thank you to my friends for assisting me with the book arrangements and for their constant encouragement throughout this journey. I am excited about what the future holds and eager to continue growing in my interests!
