Rain prevented a result at the Old Thurstan and Old Isipathana “Battle of the Brothers” Masters limited overs cricket encounter played at the Army ground in Mattegoda on March 1.
Batting first Old Isipathana Masters over-40 team captained by Rohan Silva scored 140 for 9 wickets in 30 overs.
Openers Vidura Algama and Panduka Kumaranayake put on a solid partnership of 43 runs for the first wicket.
Thereafter wickets fell at regular intervals and were reeling at 86 for 5 at one stage.
Vasantha Warnasuriya and Kanishka Weerasundera claimed three wickets each.
Old Thurstan Masters over 40 team lead by Vasantha Warnasuriya lost three early wickets to be 47 for 3 at one stage.
Then Kanchana Perera batted aggressively to score 32 runs not out off 24 ball with five boundaries. He was joined by Chamith Aravinda who chipped in with an unbeaten 28 runs off 26 deliveries, put on a partnership of 55 runs for the fourth wicket.
Then at the end of the 18th over showers came down to halt play and the game was declared a draw.
